Good Design Meets a Good Cause

Good design meets a good cause. Flyer for environmental nonprofit organization, infographic with hand drawn illustrations explaining the oyster shell recovery program

We love when good design and a good cause collide. Last month we worked with Seatuck Environmental Association to promote the “Half Shells for Habitat: Oyster Shell Recovery Program.”

The Short Story…

Here’s a quick synopsis for you. Seatuck Environmental Association, Town of Brookhaven Recycling and participating Long Island restaurants have teamed up to create an oyster shell recycling program. First, restaurants save their waste oysters. Next, the oysters go through a variety of steps as shown in the fabulously designed flyer above 😉  Through this process, the shells are reused to promote a healthy environment for baby oysters and cleaner coastal waters. Make sure to visit www.seatuck.org for more information on this program and many others.

Our 4th Season with Fire Island News!

Fire Island News Cover, Seasonal Long Island Newspaper, Photo of man painting the Fire Island post office

Last month we kicked off our FOURTH year designing Fire Island News! This seasonal newspaper has been around since 1957. When we were first approached about this project a few years ago, our creative director Pam jumped right on board. Having lots of publishing experience, she was so excited to give the newspaper a fresh new look.

If you’re visiting Fire Island, make sure to grab a copy. We love seeing your smiling faces so make sure to tag us @fatcat.graphics. Of course, we love seeing it in print but if you can’t snatch up a copy, you can also view the paper online.

Enjoy!
